Keynote Speakers for Mid-Winter Conference 2011

David Quine
David and his wife Shirley have home educated their nine children in Richardson, Texas, since 1980.

The Quines are another family whose path towards home education was shaped by that now-famous Focus on the Family broadcast featuring Dr. Raymond Moore. At that time David was the science director (Kindergarten through twelfth grade) for the ninth largest school district in Texas.

David and Shirley were greatly influenced by the writings of Dr. Raymond and Mrs. Dorothy Moore (Better Late Than Early and School Can Wait.) Dr. Francis Schaeffer and his daughter, Susan Schaeffer Macaulay (she introduced them to the educational writings of Charlotte Mason) were also key elements in the development of the Quines’ lifestyle of learning. The Quine’s have put their own materials in print and offer them through their family enterprise, Cornerstone Curriculum.

Carol Barnier

Carol is a homeschooling mom of many years who speaks coast to coast at homeschool conferences and who is also a frequent radio show guest.

She began Open Gifts Ministries when her son---a non-stop, constantly moving ball of energy---didn't fit the mold of a traditional classroom setting. With each new challenge, Carol learned to recognize the value of following the wisdom of the Designer and His plan for each child and each mom.

With much laughter, coupled with highly practical solutions, Carol will share strategies that encourage you to open the gift that is your child, to see your child and yourself as God designed you each to be, and to fulfill His plan for all of us, educationally and in daily living.

Carol, along with her husband, homeschool their three children in the beautiful Berkshire Hills of Connecticut (when she's not busy searching for her lost keys.)
